Since test cricket came onto the scene in 1950, Pakistan has blessed the world with some incredible cricketing talent. Pakistan has always been a highly entertaining cricket team, winning a number of titles over the years. From Waqar Younis to Shahid Khan Afridi, there have been some immensely talented cricketers from Pakistan over the years, so let’s take a look at three of the best.
Javed Miandad
There is only one place to begin, and this is with Javed Miandad. During his career, Miandad was the highest scorer for Pakistan. Whenever the team was in trouble, you could count on Javed’s runs to get them out of it. We’re sure that a lot of people have made great money on live cricket betting when Javed has been on the cricket ground. He finished 7,381 One Day International (ODI) runs with a 41 average. He also scored eight centuries and 50 half-centuries during his career, which spanned 233 matches. Once he retired from playing cricket, he became a coach. In fact, he is one of a few individuals to have coached the Pakistan cricket team on three or more occasions, with the others being Richard Pybus and Waqar Younis.
Wasim Akram
We are sure that you will not be surprised to see Wasim’s name on this list. Known as a ‘Sultan Of Swing,’ Wasim was one of the world’s fastest-ever bowlers. He mastered the two most challenging techniques to play and bowl; the reverse swing and yorker. He had complete mastery over swing and seam, sometimes moving the ball in both ways during one delivery. Many rate him as the best left-arm fast bowler of all time! When he finished his career, he had 414 test wickets across 104 matches, as well as 502 ODI wickets in 356 matches. In 2019, Wasim was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for his lifetime achievements in the field of cricket.
Imran Khan
Finally, we are ending with the most successful and greatest Pakistani cricketer of all time. Of course, we are talking about Imran Khan, who was an outstanding all-rounder, with 7,000 plus runs and 500 wicket-takers. He was also the leader of the Pakistani team who won the 1992 World Cup. This is the only time that the country has won this competition. This resulted in him receiving the Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan, just as Akram did. He also received the president’s Pride of Performance award in 1983. Interestingly, he took his leadership skills and applied them in a different manner later in life, becoming the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The greatest cricketers Pakistan has produced
So there you have it: three of the best cricketers from Pakistan. Of course, there were others that were very close to making the list. We have to give honorable mentions to Abdul Qadir, Misbah-ul-Haq, Zaheer Abbas, Hanif Mohammad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Waqar Younis, and Shahid Khan Afridi.
